Our Motives

Mankind faces the twin problems of fossil fuel resource depletion, and climate change. At some point in the future we will have to move to fully renewable power generation. The challenge we see at Ultramo is how to manage the transition. We are developing technology that will help enable the transition from our fossil fuel economy to a renewably powered one. Any technology that will be of significant use to achieve this must be deployed rapidly on a grand scale. The ideal qualities of such a technology would be:

• Financial incentive (rapid pay-back)
• A Worldwide potential market
• No change in consumer behaviour required 
• Can utilise existing energy infrastructure

To this end we believe nothing will achieve more in less time than improving the efficiency of the internal combustion engine. A high efficiency engine can be used to support emerging renewable technologies by being paired with them, allowing the problems of long payback periods and supply intermittency to be addressed.
